The Çırağan Palace, Kempinski

The Çırağan Palace, inherited its name from Fatma Sultan, who frequently organised torch lit celebrations of Çırağan Festivals in the gardens of the Palace. Derived from Persian, the word suggested a special light source. The word soon became synonymous with the Palace. Years later Kempinski lovingly restored it to its former glory and opened its doors in 1991.
